I REFER to the letter “Mini-tornadoes do exist in country,” (The Star, April 4) and wish to confirm Zahar's article that they indeed do affect Malaysia.
I took three pictures at a few minutes interval which showed the development of three different light twisters above Segambut Valley at about 5.25pm on April 2.
These twisters did not form totally, but the phenomenon was interesting.
Due to climate changes, Malaysia like many other places around the world could face stronger winds and subsequently major damages like in northern areas (Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, etc).
The damages may be amplified by the fact that many structures here are not designed to withstand strong winds.
